The world-wide best known program for the shutdown of up to several hundred computers in a network is the module RCCMD (Remote Control CoMmanD) from Generex Systems. This program for the administration of parallel redundant USV/UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems has been sold world-wide and is successfully used over one million times.
The program was ported for all platforms. Thus the possibility exists to install this program on all computers in the network and in case of a USV/UPS situation, to allow for the saving of data and then the shut down of the system. This possibility can be used in homogeneous or heterogeneous networks. As transmitters, each computer with a USV/UPSMAN (USV/UPS Management Software) or a CS121 SNMP adapter can be used.
In order to protect against unauthorised control of the individual computers, a list of one or more authorised IP addresses can be entered on each RCCMD Client. Since the connection is established only when necessary, and then just for a few seconds, a so-called "tunnel", i.e. unauthorised accesses to the hard disks of the Clients, is not possible.

Transmission of messages over TCP/IP between different operating systems: Thus a notification of an emergency by the USV/UPS from a Windows network can also be distributed to a UNIX network or directly on the AS400. This can be be used with "SNMP adapters" which normally only announces itself to the operator by means of a Trap. By means of RCCMD a CS121 can now also use Windows Network Message or a Unix x-message and, in a USV/USP situation, notify the AS/400 system operator or independently begin automated PWRDWNSYS measures.
Automated remote maintenance of network computers without user account or log in: RCCMD can implement any program on a distant computer, now also on the AS/400.
